The writer would just like to speak up as a senior high school student sincerely written from her heart’s content and without holding any grudges towards the college peeps out there as the preceding paragraph will also serve as an open letter towards the college people who may have misinterpreted the life of every struggling senior high. No hate just peace and love. #ChangingMindsets

It’s perfectly fine to have different points of view. After all we all experience similar, but never identical circumstances. Yes, we do experience the same pressure with you guys. Given that the whole curriculum is yet to be an experiment of the government. And given the different tracks for that we are oblige to pursue which only adds up into our confusion state. Imagine taking majors of political scientists, and psychologists, when your plan is to be a teacher. Taking up biology courses, when your plan is to be an IT major. We are forced to take up units and subjects in which we think is not lined up into our planned degree. And yes, there are a lot of similar cases. Although, we are yet to experience the struggles that college has in store for us, we do understand the sentiments of our Ates and Kuyas coming from the social media of different prestigious colleges since we all for sure go through different kinds of struggles.

Surely, college will shoot us the bullets of different majors in which we are likely going to take up in the future. Yet as far as now, our life as a senior high have also been shooting us the kind of bullets which are also exclusively for us. Given that our Kuyas and Ates might have theses due on their deadliest deadlines, but we the senior high, as not everyone knows, also have research papers that, and from what we see, are less complicated than the latter as compared to the tertiary level. However, it does not necessarily mean that the one is harder than the other. Nothing is ever easy for us. Or shall we say, nothing good ever comes easy. Walang madaling course. Walang madali sa buhay. Lahat pinaghihirapan. There are no cheat codes in life but there are life hacks and cheat sheets. Diskarte lang. But then again, it’s just a phase of life. We’ll be stepping out from senior high school soon, continue on with our lives and experience what our college lives has to offer. And all of those sleepless nights dahil sa hindi matapos tapos na thesis, research papers, reaction papers, annotations, job interviews, and what else? Getting up for school with lack of sleep carrying tons of problems aside from school works. And I don’t really know what you guys are actually up to. But what really matters at the end of the day, is how we overcome all of these struggles.

So to all incoming and graduating as senior high, please do remember these few words. It’s not just about survival of the fittest, but it’s simply about how we deal with whatever life throws at us. To get up from a big jump to failure. Resiliency. Stepping out of mediocrity. Taking risks. Dreaming big and actually working out for it. And sometimes diskarte lang. And more importantly, making your parents proud instead!
